I wanted to write a song for refugees coming to Australia. Like all songs that I create I try to write lyrics with some depth and meaning. The way this song came to light could be best described as gaining inspiration from a dream. In that dream I was being rather mean to refugees, some call it being a xenophobic bigot. Others call it being a …..! But within the dream I suddenly died and then saw myself being re-born as a refugee seeking asylum. Some people may say “Lucky it was only a dream.” I say, “Unlucky for you not to believe in dreams!”
The way the song turned out, it is one which advocates that all most people on the planet want is true freedom, to be yourself and to live a life in harmony, peace and love. I must be what we all demand, for ourselves…and everyone else.
I think it has drawn on some inspiration by Bob Marley.
I firmly believe that songs can help to change the world. I hope that you enjoy this song. If you do then please let me know and please share it.
